Content Director (French Speaking – Native)
We're seeking a visionary Content Director in Barcelona to lead innovative sports projects from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with brand and regional standards for the French market.
About the Role
We are looking for a native French speaker Content Director based in Barcelona who will have the opportunity to work on disruptive sports-related projects, overseeing all aspects of production from concept to execution. This role requires a visionary leader who can guide the narrative and creative direction of the program while managing the logistical and commercial aspects of production. From Barcelona, you will work closely with the local team based in Paris and play a central role in ensuring that all content aligns with both brand and regional standards for the French market.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversees all aspects of programme production, from pre-production to post-production. This includes planning, casting, set design, directing, and more, in coordination with the Paris team to support their regional content initiatives.
- Collaborates closely with the Paris-based content team to ensure cohesive content that reflects the overall brand vision while aligning with the specific needs of the French market.
- Leads content staff and other production teams, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
- Defines the creative vision for the programme, ensuring that all elements (scripting, directing, acting, production design, etc.) align with that vision and complement the brand’s presence in France.
- Manages the programme’s budget, ensuring that resources are used efficiently to maximise programme quality. Makes strategic decisions to optimise resources and maintain high production values.
- Leads the writing team, participates in script writing, and edits scripts to ensure consistency and quality across episodes, in line with guidelines developed in collaboration with the French content team.
- Selects and manages crew members, including directors, actors, writers, and technical staff.
- Manages any issues that may arise during production, from cast conflicts to technical problems, with an awareness of team dynamics across both Barcelona and Paris.
- Monitors audience feedback and ratings to make informed decisions about programme direction and possible adjustments.
- Works closely with content directors in other countries to ensure that brand and content guidelines are consistently applied across regions.
Requirements
- Experience in producing television shows, ideally reality shows and live events.
- Studies in Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, Film, Audiovisual Production, or similar.
- A keen eye for creative excellence and the ability to develop and execute long-term content strategies.
- 7+ years of experience in the television industry, especially in roles related to writing, producing, and directing entertainment and reality television programmes.
- Ability to conceive ideas and bring them to reality, either through live programmes or recorded video, and supervise writers or scriptwriters to ensure narrative cohesion.
- Must be able to lead and oversee large teams, including directors, editors, writers, talent, and technical staff.
- Understanding of all aspects of production, from pre-production to post-production, is essential to oversee the creation of an audiovisual programme, whether live or recorded.
- Must have a clear creative vision for the programme and the ability to bring that vision to the screen.
- Able to make quick, effective decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Proficient in managing budgets effectively to optimise programme quality within financial constraints.
- A skilled communicator, able to work and collaborate with different teams and stakeholders, from cast to network executives.
- Ability to adapt to unexpected changes and challenges during production is important to the success of a programme.
- Being aware of industry trends and viewer expectations can help create relevant and engaging content.
- Native French speaker required; candidates who are not native French speakers will not be considered for this position.
- Excellent proficiency in English.
- Flexibility in working hours is essential, with availability required to work on weekends due to the nature of our entertainment and football events.
